Welcome to the Howard Elementary Art website dedicated to the visual arts that are produced and created by K-4 students of Howard Elementary.
Howard's art classroom is replaced with the vision and feel of an actual art studio, a workshop. It is a lively place with activity, laughter, and art production at all levels. It is a room open to the learner. Visual literacy, math, science, history, technology, and other creative disciplines are experienced and embedded into the curriculum so that the student may walk away with an expansive base knowledge found within this type of creative atmosphere.
Students are introduced to the basic understanding of the elements and principles of design, color theory, art history, and art production producing fine art at a high level for the young learner. Painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, design, graphics, technology, and mixed media cover a wide spectrum that all K-4 students experience with an emphasis on personalized learning. The concept is to create a visual idea and the learner will then solve using tools of the visual discipline.
